Satin-Backed Crepe

For years this has been one of our most popular sellers for bridal and grad fashions. This reversible fabric with a shiny smooth satin on one side and a matte crepe on the other is very versatile. Many of our customers will use both sides of the fabric to create interest on a gown. This fabric has a beautiful drape and is available in many fashionable shades.

Peau de Soie

Another very popular fabric for bridal and grad fashions is our Peau de Soie. This fabric has a very smooth surface with a rich lustre as opposed to a high shine. It has a lot of body and is ideal for more structured gowns or for fuller a-line skirts that are intended to flare out. This fabric is also available in a myriad of colours.

“Corsica”

This fabric has a very similar look to our Peau de Soie in that it is very smooth with a lustrous finish. It has a much softer drape however, creating a very romantic impression. It is a beautiful fabric for gowns either fitted or flared and also makes a beautiful suit for a special occasion.

“Quiana Crepe”

This deluxe version of a satin-backed crepe is also very versatile due to the fact that it is reversible. It has an even softer drape than our regular Satin-backed crepe but is available in a narrower range of colours. It is an excellent choice for a gown with a flowing fuller skirt or a soft train.

Vichy Chiffon

Chiffon is a classic bridal fabric. It is light as air and very sheer making it ideal for use as an over layer on a gown, to create sheer elements on a gown, such as the sleeves or shoulders, and also makes a beautiful wrap or stole. It is available in many colours and is dyed to co-ordinate with our Satin-backed Crepe as well as our Peau de Soie.

Plain Organza

Another option for sheer coverage is our plain organza, which has a nice matte finish. Organza has much more body than chiffon. It is also used for overlays on gown and for wraps or stoles where a little more volume is desired. It too is dyed to match our Satin-backed Crepe and our Peau de Soie.

Crystal Organza

Like our plain organza, Crystal Organza offers sheer coverage with more body than chiffon. The difference is that Crystal Organza has a shiny finish, which makes it perfect for evening fashions. Available in colours to co-ordinate with our Satin-backed Crepe and our Peau de Soie.

“Galaxy” Organza

Galaxy organza is a newer fabric that is quite similar to our Crystal Organza but it has an even smoother finish and is a little softer. It is not available in as many colours as our other Organza but please let us know what colours you would like and we will send a swatch as close as we can come to your request.

“Victoria” Satin

“Victoria” is a very smooth and lightweight satin. It hangs beautifully on the body and has a shiny finish. It may be used on it’s own (with a lining) or as a soft base layer under another sheer fabric. It is also an ideal fabric for slips or for other lingerie items. This fabric also drapes beautifully on the bias making it a good choice for a bias-cut camisole or a bias-cut dress à la 1930’s. It is available in several colours for you to choose from.

Duppioni Silk

Duppioni Silk is a classic fashion fabric. No other fabric can match the rich lustre, colour and lightweight crispness of this fabric. If you want a voluminous skirt that doesn’t weigh you down or if you want to make a very smart structured suit or two-piece outfit you can’t go wrong with this fabric. It is available in many rich jewel tones as well as many muted tones and pale tints. It is very easy to sew but frays quite easily, so give yourself and ample seam allowance.

Silk Duchess Satin

This is the crème de la crème bridal fabric. The rich lustre and body make this fabric look like a dream. It’s body will help make an a-line skirt hold its shape beautifully. Because it is silk it will also breathe well making it fairly cool to wear, which may be a consideration if you are getting married at the height of summer heat. It is available in silk white and ivory as well as a few other basic colours. It is a little more expensive, but you’re worth it!

Silk Charmeuse

This 100% silk has beautiful shine and drape. The breathability of silk makes it very comfortable and luxurious to wear. It is also ideal for use as a lingerie fabric. It is available in silk white and ivory as well as a range of pastel colours.

Silk Organza

The crispness and body of silk organza is unmatched. It is beautiful as an overlay on a wedding gown and would be beautiful as a gathered over-skirt on a flower girl. It has a lovely matte finish.

Bridal Tulle

Tulle is another bridal basic. It can be layered over a the skirt of a bridal gown or used layered under a skirt to create volume as a crinoline. In white and ivory in plain and sparkle we carry various widths for your convenience.

137cm/54" Tulle (Colours)

In a wide range of colours we have our basic tulle. It can be used for all the same purposes as listed above, but we also have a lot of customers purchasing tulle to decorate their wedding banquet. Its volume and softness create a very romantic impression and have a stunning effect when combined with mini-lights.

DeBall Cotton Velvet

Velvet has always been a very lush, rich looking fabric. In 100% cotton it is very comfortable to wear and to care for. Consider it for an entire gown, suit, a bustier top, or as a contrast on a gown or suit. It is also ideal for the younger wedding attendants for the flower girl’s dress or the ring bearer’s vest.

Triple Velvet

This nylon and acetate velvet has a very rich dark look. It is a reasonable choice for bridesmaids’ dresses or for flower girls. It is especially lovely for wedding occurring during the colder months of the year.

65% Acetate 35% Nylon available in 115cm/45" width

“Douce” Satin

“Douce” is the French word for “soft”, making it the perfect name for this fabric. The delightful thing about this lightweight satin is it’s fibre content, which is 97% polyester and 3% spandex. The spandex allows for just enough stretch to make the garments give slightly for added comfort of movement. This fabric is ideal for tops, lightweight skirts, gowns, or even lingerie. “Micro Chiffon”

Micro Chiffon is a newer item to the selection of fabrics at Fabricana. This lightweight fabric is not as sheer as the Vichy Chiffon, and not as heavy as our Georgette. It drapes beautifully making it idea for an overlay on a dress or skirt. Consider it for ballroom dancing: It will float through the air right along with you!
