Pantone Colour of the Year 2017: Greenery

Get energized with “Greenery”, Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017
The first thing that I thought of when I saw that Greenery was announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year was SPRING!  For me the shade evokes images of the stems of spring blossoms; crocuses, daffodils and tulips, clear signs that it’s a time for renewal and growth.  It’s such a fresh shade - a green that leans a little toward yellow, but not so much that those of us who cannot wear yellow should shy away.
Great for home décor!
Pantone has described Greenery as “nature’s neutral.”  It’s the back drop for so much of the beauty that nature offers.  It can do the same fresh backdrop for your décor.  Brighten up a space by pairing it with brights – hot pink is it’s natural complement.  Tone it done with subdued pastels, blend it with other earthy tones, or let it stand out against white, light grey or metallic.
Tropical Leaves
Greenery lends itself to the oversized tropical leaf trend that we’ve seen recently.  These prints can bring a summer warmth to your home through every season!  I keep picturing a master bedroom with bold palm leaf printed drapes, plantation furniture and elegant gold accents!
While the Pantone colour of the year isn’t a strict rule as to how you should decorate this year, it will be a good indicator of what will be available in the marketplace.  Will you embrace this fresh colour, or wait to see what 2018 offers?
