3 Easy to Sew Father's Day Gifts

Father’s Day is coming up quickly but there’s still some time left to sew a quick and useful Father’s Day gift. Here are 3 beginner friendly projects that you can sew up in no time!

Boxer Shorts

There are so many novelty printed cotton fabrics available that you can customize this project to what your Dad likes. There’s everything from junk food, animals, superheroes and so much more! These loose fitting shorts are perfect to wear as pjs in the warm summer months!

Cuffed Pillowcase
This is another great project that works well with printed fabrics that suit your Dad’s likes and interests. For this project, look for two fun prints that you can combine for the cuff and body of the pillowcase and then pick an accent colour or small print that ties the two prints together. BBQ Apron
Got a Dad who likes to grill? Why not make him an apron he can wear to keep his clothes clean as he BBQs up a storm! There are lots of BBQ apron patterns available on the market including McCalls 5551 as we have shown here.  You can choose to make the apron out of something thick and super durable like a cotton canvas or choose a fun printed fabric that is a bit lighter in weight but very easy to work with.
Extra Tip: No matter what project you decide to make, just keep in mind if you’re making it out of cotton it’s a good idea to get a bit extra and pre-shrink the fabric before cutting and sewing with it.
Happy Sewing!
