Polyester is a versatile fibre. It resists wrinkling, holds its colour and is easy care. It’s also a more affordable option when considering fabrics for garments that may be worn once or twice.
This elegant charmeuse is made from high quality polyester fibres. The high sheen and soft drape make it suitable for blouses, lingerie or an underlay for sheer fabrics or lace. (100% polyester 60”/150cm wide)
Very similar to charmeuse in weight and drape, Tahari features the added comfort of stretch. Use it in place of charmeuse as an underlay or lingerie fabric or even as a lining in a garment that requires a little bit of stretch. (97% polyester 3% spandex 58”/145cm)
Miyuki is one of our most popular fabrics for special occasion garments. The weight makes it suitable for a shift dress, skirt and jacket, or evening gown. The subtle satin finish provides an elegant lustre while the spandex makes it suited to fitted garments. Available in subtle tints or rich jewel tones, Miyuki is hard to resist. (95% polyester 5% spandex 54”/137cm)

Polyester Sheer Fabrics
Cationic Chiffon and Silhouette Frost
The beauty of this chiffon is enhanced by its iridescent quality. Contrasting yarns running opposite directions create a dramatic effect as the fabric flows. The cross dyed yarns of the Silhouette Frost create an ethereal “frosted” effect. (100% polyester 60”/150cm wide) “
This romantic sheer fabric “floats on air” making it perfect for the ballroom dancefloor. (100% polyester 60”/150cm)

This affordable corded lace has our widest range of colours including eye-catching brights, fresh pastels and elegant neutrals. Xanna is great for a dramatic head-to-toe look or as an accent on a bodice or sheer sleeve.
The name says it all! “Lace” is a lovely fine-corded fabric at a midrange price point.
Other Special Occasion Fabrics
An ideal fabric for silhouettes that require crispness and volume, taffeta is available in a wide range of colours and fibre types. The most common fibres are 100% polyester, polyester blended with nylon, or 100% acetate. Taffeta is a fabric that often has contrast crosswise yarns (often black) creating a dramatic two-toned effect.
Borrowed from French, Tulle describes a very fine netting which is often gathered up into a petticoat to create volume under a skirt. It is also commonly used as an overskirt to create a romantic, sheer, voluminous effect. In recent years tulle has been cut into narrow strips to create the popular “No Sew Tutu” which is often used in costumes for children and adults alike. Our 54” wide tulle is 100% nylon and comes in a wide range of colours.
